Overview

Settling in and getting the best result

Improvement in volume and contour normally appears straight away. Some swelling or bruising in the first few days is normal and may exaggerate your result initially.

You should see a natural-looking outcome within 7 to 10 days, once any swelling has settled.

Dermal filler treatments typically last between 6 and 18 months, depending on the area treated, the product used, and your own metabolism and lifestyle.

Key points

For the first 24 to 48 hours

A short list of dos and don'ts to support your result.

  • Avoid applying make-up to the treated area for 6 hours.

  • Do not touch, rub or massage the treated area for at least 48 hours.

  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours.

  • Avoid heavy physical activity, such as gym workouts or running, for at least 24 hours.

  • Stay upright and gently mobile as much as possible for the first 24 hours.

  • Avoid steam rooms, saunas, sunbeds and direct sunbathing for the first 48 hours.

  • Use a cold compress (not ice directly on the skin) if you experience swelling or discomfort.

  • Do not have facial treatments, chemical peels or laser procedures for 2 weeks.

  • Follow any specific instructions given by your clinician.

Settling and supporting your result

What to expect in the first few days

Some swelling and bruising are normal in the first few days and may make the area look fuller than the eventual result. This usually settles within 7 to 10 days.

Minor lumps and unevenness

Minor lumps or unevenness can occur and usually settle as the filler integrates. If you have any concerns about lumps or asymmetry, please contact us.

Caring for your skin

Keep well hydrated and maintain a healthy skincare routine to support your result. If bruising occurs, arnica cream or tablets may help reduce its appearance.

Your review appointment

We recommend a review appointment 2 weeks after treatment, so we can assess your result and make any adjustments if needed.
