Alison qualified in 1987 from Guys Hospital in London where she was inspired by the concept of "minimally invasive" dentistry, at that time a new and quite radical approach.

She has enjoyed a long and varied career, beginning as a family dentist in general practice in North Yorkshire where she grew up.

Later Alison moved to the Midlands where she worked in Special Care Dentistry at the Royal Leamington Spa Rehabilitation Hospital, providing care for in-patients who had suffered from strokes, acquired brain injuries and had late-stage multiple sclerosis amongst other conditions. She also provided care in the community under the South Warwickshire Community Dental Service.

In 1997 she came to North Wales, initially continuing her work in Special Care Dentistry working for the community service based in Blaenau Ffestiniog and working in clinics at Dolgellau and Penygroes. After thirteen years she felt the time was right to return to general practice and Alison accepted a post at Penrhyndeudraeth, where she has practised since before her move to West End Dental.

As part of the West End Dental team, Alison will continue with her life-long passion for minimal intervention; the preservation of healthy teeth by means of preventive interventions, innovative techniques and use of dental materials designed to promote healing and repair.

When not at work, Alison serves as a deacon at Criccieth Family Church where she sings in the band and has been a volunteer youth worker for over twenty-five years. She loves to dance and is learning to tap dance as well as enjoying twice-weekly Zumba classes. She and her husband have a shared interest in motorcycling, and Alison can often be seen out and about on the pillion in her Beatrix Potter-themed helmet enjoying the roads of North Wales on sunny days. By contrast, she also enjoys a slower-paced outing in Betty Blue, her classic Beetle. Give her a wave if you see her on the road and accept her apologies if she holds up your journey!
